[HANOI] Part-time Secondary Teachers needed for our in-school teaching team

Atlantic Five-Star English is recruiting Part-time Secondary Teachers to join our in-school teaching team for the 2024-2025 school year.

This post is ideal for an experienced, dedicated teacher looking for long-term, daytime hours teaching students aged 11-15.

Schools are mainly located in Hanoi. Travel allowances are provided for certain schools that are more than 9kms from the centre of Hanoi.

Courses start in September and will continue to the end of the school year in May 2025. Teachers will be required to attend an induction week before the start of classes.

COURSE INFO:

Class size: 

  • approximately 25 – 30 students for normal sized classes
  • bigger size classes with more than 30 students will attract a supplementary allowance

Contract length: 

  • Aug/Sep 2024 – May 2025

Teaching hours: 

  • Teachers may be scheduled to teach between the hours of 7am to 6pm, Mon to Fri
  • NO guaranteed hours per month

Compensation: 

  • from 540,000VND gross per teaching hour (based on qualifications and experience) + allowances

DUTIES

5SiS teachers are responsible for planning and teaching lessons, managing student behaviour, and keeping detailed records of their progress. This involves grading tests and completing comments and records to communicate student performance with schools and parents. Travelling to schools, regular communication with the academic and operations teams, and attending meetings and training sessions are key parts of the role. A Secondary ESL teacher requires a dedication to helping pre-teen students (aged 11-15) expand their knowledge of a new language and structures and how to use them. It is important to have strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as patience and an understanding of development of students aged 11-15 and how it affects their learning and behaviour.

 

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

Essential

  • CELTA / Trinity CertTESOL or equivalent teaching certification with observed teaching practice
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher 
  • Minimum 1-year English teaching experience with Secondary learners (ages 11 – 15)
  • An understanding of developmental stages that influence Secondary level education
  • Proficient with common computer software, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
  • English proficiency equivalent to C1 from a recognised exam (IELTS, TOEFL, Cambridge Advanced/Proficiency, or APTIS) if NOT from the following countries: the US, the UK, Australia, Canada, Ireland and New Zealand (this is a Viet Nam government requirement)
  • A clean criminal record

Desirable

  • 2+ years’ teaching experience
  • Experience teaching in public schools and large class sizes.
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of cultural aspects that play a part in Vietnamese secondary education.
  • The ability to create the best conditions for learning or teaching new things and expanding on previous knowledge to pre-teen students aged 11 – 15
  • The ability to work well with others.
  • Experience administering and preparing students for Cambridge YLE and Main Suite exams.
  • Delta / DipTESOL / relevant MA with practical teaching component
