What is it like teaching at Atlantic?

ATLANTIC FIVE-STAR ENGLISH

Working in state schools means experiencing Vietnamese culture and education close-up. In addition to classroom teaching, you will also get to experience school ceremonies and events, and see the community around the school as well. Teachers normally work at 2-3 different schools, and each has its own unique character.

Kate Robinson – 5SiS Teacher

“Even from the interview and the questions the interviewer was asking, it was clear that Atlantic cared deeply about education, the experience of their students and the quality of their teachers. Even though I joined after the start of the school year and missed the formal induction, I still got good support – they answered questions I had immediately…
Teaching on an in-school programme is really fun. It’s really nice to get out and see different areas of the city, you get to experience lots of different styles if you’re in different schools and see a lot more of what education is like in Vietnam.”

How can Atlantic help me develop as a teacher?

ATLANTIC FIVE-STAR ENGLISH

Atlantic holds a week-long induction for all 5SiS teachers at the beginning of the school year. Induction includes not only workshops but also real teaching practice in a school context. This helps all teachers get experience teaching in the state school environment. Our dedicated academic management team provides ongoing support throughout the year, through assisted lesson planning, observations and co-teaching, as well as regular workshops and standardisation sessions.

Sean Cameron – 5SiS Teacher

“We started with a very thorough induction. We got a good look at the kind of content we would teach and some things we should expect from classes.
Observations have been the biggest help to me. It helps you understand what you can improve and what you’re doing well in terms of your teaching. The best part about it is that even if you are not doing things correctly, it’s not just a full negative session. They highlight what you can do to improve and you are always given good advice and tools to improve the lessons that you are teaching.
All in all, it has been a very positive experience.”
