INTRODUCTION

The Atlantic Education and Training Company was founded in 2003. In 2003 the Atlantic Group started their Atlantic Overseas Study programme as a study abroad agency service, sourcing scholarships and university placements at international universities for Vietnamese students.

Atlantic Five Star English began their In-school Supplementary programme in 2015. The first Five-Star English Language Learning centre at 33 Lạc Trung opened in January 2017 and the second Five-Star centre at 125 Hoàng Ngân opened in May 2017.

Atlantic Five Star English expanded to also include the In-school Cambridge International Education programme where students follow the Cambridge Checkpoint and IGCSE curricula in a public school setting from 2018. In the same year Atlantic also started with IELTS programmes for high school students, helping them improve their academic English skills and preparing them for the official IELTS exam. Atlantic then launched the in-school Academic programme in 2019, where students at primary and secondary level are prepared for official Cambridge qualifications such as Pre A1 Starters (YLE Starters), A1 Movers (YLE Movers), A2 Flyers (YLE Flyers), A2 Key for Schools (KET), B1 Preliminary for Schools (PET) and B2 First for Schools (FCE).

Atlantic has been helping Vietnamese achieve their goals for 20 years and has become known for the 5-star quality we offer across our various programmes.

ATLANTIC FIVE-STAR IN-SCHOOL

The Atlantic Five-Star in-school programme offers a full study pathway for primary, secondary and high school students. Each stage builds a solid foundation in academic English and prepares students for internationally recognised English certificates including Cambridge YLE, Cambridge Main Suite and IELTS exams.

Primary

The aim of our primary programme is for students to attain a CEFR level of A1+/A2 in all four skills by the end of their primary career, as assessed by an official Cambridge English Young Learners Exam.

The course itself is designed to ensure that learners develop the ability to communicate in English in all 4 skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking), as a solid foundation for future English language study in secondary school.

Secondary

Students enter our Secondary programme in Grade 6 (ages 11 – 12) with two semesters from September-January and February – May, and they complete in Grade 9, after four years of study. The programme is designed to help students develop their ability to communicate in English using all 4 skills, to B1 level or above.

High School

Our programme starts in Grade 10 (ages 15 – 16) with two semesters from September – January and February – April/May. In Grade 11, students begin study in the summer, from July – August, and continue for the rest of the school year from September – April/May.

In Grade 12, students again study from July – August. Most students will finish their study at this point and take the official IELTS exam in Aug or Sep of Grade 12, leaving them free in Grade 12 to focus on preparing for their university entrance exam. Some classes who would like extra preparation may continue to study until December of Grade 12.
Results of the programme so far have been strong, with the vast majority of students (79%) receiving 6.0 or above overall on their official IELTS exam, and more than 30% receiving a 7.0 or above.

SUPPLEMENTARY PROGRAMME

Atlantic’s Supplementary in-School programme offers a light and lively curriculum focussed on speaking and listening skills. Supplementary lessons help to reinforce and extend what students learn in their regular English classes following the Viet Nam National Curriculum. Lessons include fun grammar / vocabulary review activities, communicative speaking activities, and fun projects. Teachers are supported with readymade slides and lesson outlines, which they can adapt to each class they teach, and training and coaching from experienced senior teachers and academic management. Atlantic offers our Supplementary programme to students mainly at Secondary (Grade 6-9) and High School (Grade 10-12). The vast majority of our schools are in Ha Noi, with a small but growing presence in Ninh Binh and Central Viet Nam.

ATLANTIC FIVE-STAR CENTER

Atlantic’s Five-Star centres run evening and weekend classes for students seeking extra English classes outside of the regular school day. About half our learners are Primary students, with the rest divided between Secondary (age 11 – 15) and High School (16+). We teach communicative English to international standards for young learners (age 5-15+) as well as IELTS exam preparation courses (age 15+). All classrooms feature modern facilities, including a smartboard. With a maximum class size of 15, teachers are able to get to know each of their students and focus on their individual progress. We currently have two centres in Ha Noi, located in Hai Ba Trung and Cau Giay districts.

EXAMS & TRAINING

Atlantic Five-star English is an Authorised Exam Centre (VN301) for Cambridge English Exams. Every year we deliver official Cambridge English Exams to thousands of students from Atlantic’s own programmes and from our partner centres and schools in and around Ha Noi. We deliver Young Learners Exams — Pre-A1 Starters, A1 Movers, A2 Flyers — as well as higher-level exams, including A2 Key / Key for Schools, B1 Preliminary / Preliminary for Schools, and B2 First / First for Schools. We also deliver all modules of TKT exams for English teachers.

Atlantic has helped hundreds of local teachers improve both their language proficiency and their teaching ability through large-scale projects in Ha Noi and other provinces. We also share our expertise with schools and teachers through both free and paid workshops. We were the only Cambridge CELT-P and CELT-S provider in Viet Nam, before Cambridge retired these courses globally.
