What does it mean to be a Five-star Teacher?

Atlantic’s mission is to help every student in Vietnam learn to work, study, play and communicate in English, creating life-changing opportunities whatever their interests and career. Atlantic’s teachers are critical in supporting students and helping us to achieve this mission.

environment

  • Sets up classroom routines and activities to facilitate learning
  • Plans for and manage interaction to include all learners and promote participation
  • Manages time effectively to ensure lesson aims are met
  • Sets up classroom tasks with clear instructions and modelling
  • Manages student behaviour and participation and deal with student problems appropriately

A Five-star Teacher plans and delivers effective lessons, following the set curriculum

  • Follows the Atlantic curriculum to ensure that course aims are met
  • Sets suitable aims for lessons and individual lesson stages
  • Adapts coursebook materials to engage students meaningfully with the language
  • Anticipates potential problems for their lessons and plan solutions
  • Employs differentiation strategies to challenge stronger learners and support lower level learners

  • Maintains contact with staff including academic management, operations, scheduler as required
  • Checks and respond to emails phone calls during working hours as required
  • Reports issues through appropriate channels
  • Is proactive in anticipating issues that may affect their delivery of the programme, and seek support in advance
